Our school is built on a strong Catholic Foundation.
We have a Chaplain in charge of spiritual/Pastoral welfare of both Students and Staff members. In collaboration with the Chaplain, we have a team of staff and students in charge of liturgy. A number of spiritual activities take place in the school namely:
PRAYERS
For the entire school comuunity prayers are offered thrice. We always begin the day with the Morning prayers at 4:45am; Evening prayers after classes at 5:00pm and Night prayers after evening preps at 10:00pm and then students go to retire.
MASS
Being a Catholic school, we always have Mass on;
Wednesday at 5:30pm; Saturday at 7:00am at the Mother House; Sunday at 6:30am and ADORATION of the Most Holy Blessed Sacrament is on every Thursday at 5:30 pm.
Mass Servers: We have a team of Mass servers that serve during liturgical celebrations and these work hand in hand with the liturgy ministers.
Choir: We have a number of choirs based on classes, clubs and movements that animate Mass and lead the adoration. With the accompaniment of traditional drums and the school Music Electrical Organ, this always makes our liturgy lively for the full and active participation.
Apart from where we usually have Mass from, we have a small Chapel. This hosts the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. The richness of its layout and its beautiful decoration offers a meditative atmosphere and is open to all throughout the day for students personal/private prayer and contemplation during their free time. Resources for prayer and liturgy can be found in this Chapel.
RETREATS
At the beginning and end of every term we hold students’ and teachers’ retreats preached by Priests sourced from different Dioceses in Uganda.
CONFESSIONS (SACRAMENT OF PENANCE)
There is an opportunity of receiving the Sacrament every after Mass or when need be.
COUNSELING AND GUIDANCE
Spiritual Counseling and Pastoral Care are available to all at St. Aloysius. These services seek to extend the healing, reconciling, guiding, and sustaining care of the Roman Catholic Church. A personal transformation that draws the person into a deeper relationship with God is the goal.
We have got a number of Catholic Lay Apostolic Movements where each student has an opportunity to belong to one of them. They always meet on Sunday at 03:00 pm for their meetings and prayers together with their patrons. These include;
CATECHITECAL INSTRUCTION
We always get time to remind our learners on matters concerning catechism. We especially cater for those that have not completed the Solemn Holy Communion and Confirmation and we make sure that they are also grounded in faith.
PATRON SAINT’S DAY
Every year, the community of St. Aloysius S.S.S gets the opportunity to celebrate the Feast Day of Saint Aloysius on 21st June. At the liturgy we learn more about this particular saint and hear about ways by which we can emulate his virtues and attributes of his model of faith.
SPIRITUAL TOURS
Every year our students go to Namugongo – Uganda Martyrs Shrine to celebrate the Uganda Martyrs day and also have a day in a year to visit Kyawangabi in Villa-Maria parish to pray the Rosary and the Way of the Cross and as they ask for Mother Mary’s intersession.
