Special programs in the department:

As P.E. department we managed to develop special programs for different games in  our school like, each stream  has its time for training which has attracted many students to join physical education.

The following are some of the games that have attracted most of the students in the school.

  1. Rounders,
  2. Netball,
  3. Volleyball, and
  4. Handball.

Also as a department  we are planning to take our students for swimming this term  so that our learners get exposed to swimming pool and gym facilities.

Project research:

Our learners for senior 4  and three managed to make project project proposals for making dolls for young children within the   community   to use during playtime, since the community of Bwanda is surrounded by  many nursery schools.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

The  department of  physical  education  has achieved the following  the  subject  has  attracted  many students in the school since most students wanted to improve on physical fitness. Regular physical education practicals classes were organised . The subject attracted many students and even those who are not taking PE as the subject therefore the school organised aerobic exercises every Tuesday and school in order to help them develop healthy habits and reduce the risk of lifestyle related diseases.

Physical education attached students in acquiring a range of sports skills and techniques which lead to participate in various sports like Rounders game which was a new game to all of them, also volleyball, netball, handball and soccer attracted many students in the school.

Physical education has improved mental health and reduced stress and anxiety among students, it also enhanced cognitive functions which can positively impact academic performance.

Physical education being one of the avenue to social skills and team work has encouraged team work, cooperation and social interaction, because most students who take physical education have learnt to work together, developed leadership skills and understand the values of collaboration.

In addition, our students have increased awareness of health and fitness through P.E. programmes by learning the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition and regular physical activity.

Physical education helped us to identify good talents in school where by last term we managed to get a good team which represented our school in a magnate tournament at Timothy Girls Secondary School, Masaka City.
